"Learn to fly with us, then fly for us"
MPD, inconjunction with its collegiate partners, Arizona State
University, and San Juan College, along with its affiliation
with Midland College, offer a unique approach to becoming an
airline pilot. The two-year Aviation Degree Program at San Juan
College was established in 1989 for the sole purpose of grooming
First Officers. The program was expanded in August 2001, when
MPD announced the four-year Professional Flight Program through
Arizona State University. In January 2002, Mesa announced an
affiliation with the program at Midland College which conducts
a program similar to MPD.
In this way, MPD can train pilots to its standards. Mesa Air Group knows
who the pilots are and the quality of training they have received.
The program ensures that pilots successfully completing the
program have already been trained in a competitive environment
similiar to the training regimen experienced by first officers
at commercial air carriers.
Designed as an ab initio (from the beginning) program, or an airline bridge program, this
training takes pilots from no time or very low time through
their private, instrument, commercial, and multi-engine ratings,
first officer training, and Part 121 checkride in two years
for the San Juan and Midland College programs and in four years
for the Arizona State University program. You will obtain your
certificates and ratings in addition to receiving jet
training designed to prepare you for a career as an airline
pilot.
